What It Takes to be a Volunteer
To be a volunteer for the 2006 Special Olympics USA National Games is a privilege and our goal is to match the best volunteers with the most suitable roles.
Interested volunteers are asked to meet minimum requirements and possess the following qualities. Some specialized roles are skill specific and may require special qualifications or varied time commitments.
- Each volunteer is asked to make a commitment of at least one full day at a venue or 2 half days at a venue(s).
- Shifts may be two, 4-6 hour shifts or one day of a 8-12 hour shift.
- Shifts include a meal/breaks.
- Volunteer shift times may vary depending on your role at the venue. Specialized roles may require a volunteer to work longer hours to ensure that a job is completed.
- If special circumstances prevent you from working on certain days, this can be taken into account when assigning you for work. Broad availability and flexibility is preferred.
- During the 2006 Special Olympics USA National Games, all volunteers will be asked to show a photo ID when reporting for duty. We encourage you to carry a photo ID throughout The Games.
